Description

General Description: Perform manual/visual and dimensional inspection of molded products to ensure satisfactory quality and compliance with customer requirements. Job involves routine, repetitive checking of production parts and the performance of minor rework/repairs to identified defects. Job may involve operating automated inspection equipment to perform inspection. With training, able to work on majority of products with limited supervision.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow approved methods and client specifications to perform all types of visual inspection and segregate and identify those with flaws
  • Follow current department procedures regarding proper work allocation
  • Follow established ISO Procedures
  • Accurately record/communicate data using ERP system (APPX)
  • Follow WIP and interpret product status
  • Use proper line clearance procedures to ensure segregation of parts
  • Load parts onto rods with the use of picks
  • Buff various parts on a cloth buffing wheel
  • Use scales to measure and count product
  • Perform Flash Checks as needed
  • Consistently meet productivity goals while maintaining appropriate product quality
  • Use information on bin tags to understand and follow special instructions
  • Use information on bin tags to understand and follow routing process
  • Perform work demanding a high degree of accuracy and close tolerance inspection
  • Consult with Supervisor or Lead when verification is needed
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance
  • Work overtime as required

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May need to setup, operate and monitor automated inspection equipment
  • May need to setup and operate laser etcher and plasma coater machines
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards at all times to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees
  • Keep working area orderly by complying with 5-S Program
  • Rod and pluck molded parts for extended periods of time (as needed)
  • Maintain proper rod stock segregation as needed
  • Learn additional department processes as needed
  • Provide assistance in other departments as needed with supervision
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to learn inspection techniques and operating procedures
  • Has neat, legible handwriting (or printing)
  • Ability to learn and use, with assistance, scales and other measuring devices

Physical Requirements:

  • Good vision (with or without corrective lenses)
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Fine motor skills in hands/wrist and good hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion
