Description

General Description:
The Facilities Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and overall condition of company buildings and grounds. This role ensures that facilities are kept in safe, efficient, and presentable condition at all times by performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and improvement projects as directed by the Facilities Manager. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a high standard of care for the physical environment, demonstrates strong technical and problem-solving skills, and contributes to the overall operational reliability of the organization.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform new construction work such as framing walls, installing windows, and building enclosures or fixtures.
  • Conduct general plant repairs, including replacing windows, lights, floor tiles, and other fixtures.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, parking area cleaning, and snow removal.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors on facility and equipment repairs or maintenance projects.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to infrastructure or system alerts, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary repairs.
  • Perform ladder and elevated platform work as required.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklifts and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service and manage facility-related work orders.
  • Follow established ISO procedures and maintain compliance with company standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Familiarity with HVAC

 

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant maintenance or facilities experience.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work across departments.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and other maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction practices is a plus.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within a shift.
  • Availability to work overtime as required.
