General Description: Produce rubber compounds by mixing ingredients on various 2-roll mills. Turn milled compound into preforms of the correct size, shape and weight using several different cutting techniques. Milling and cutting must be done based on the mold schedule. The goal is to have the preforms in the cooler before molding needs them.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately use scales to check weigh ingredients prior to milling and to ensure preforms are within tolerance while cutting.
- Cut milled rubber into preforms using scissors, hand chopper, paper shear, rotary disc cutter and mill.
- Cut and weigh rubber polymers in the raw material warehouse using hand chopper and guillotine. Some lifting up to 66 lbs. is required.
- Follow current department procedures regarding proper work allocation
- Follow established ISO procedures
- Use proper line clearance procedures to ensure compound segregation
- Accurately enter cutting information and produce bin tags for material identification and batch traceability
- Learn to mix all of PAI’s compounds using all of the milling equipment
- Follow all department and company safety rules
- Package, label and store milled compounds properly according to established shelf-life and cleanliness rules
- Use instructions on milling orders and cutting records to understand and follow special instructions
- Consistently meet productivity goals while maintaining a clean work area
- Consult with Supervision when verification is needed
- Follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance
- Work overtime as required
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards at all times to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all Associates
- Keep work area orderly by complying with 5S Program
- Maintain proper labeling of all material at all times
- Learn additional department processes as needed
- Provide assistance in other departments as needed with supervision
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent desired
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Must be able to follow detailed instructions
- Ability to learn milling techniques and operating procedures
- Has neat, legible handwriting (or printing)
- Ability to learn and use, with assistance, scales and other measuring devices
Physical Requirements:
- Good vision (with or without corrective lenses)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 55 lbs regularly and up to 66 lbs. occasionally
