Description: This position is responsible for planning and supervising daily activities of the Cleanroom by assuring production output supports the production schedule and meets all applicable quality requirements. Ensure all associates have the information, training and equipment necessary to perform their work safely and efficiently throughout the day.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assign work to meet production requirements of Molding/Mold Maintenance
- Adjust labor levels to meet current and projected volume
- Monitor and evaluate Appx Molding Scroller for guidance
- Track Red Dot and special orders
- Confer with Molding Manager and Production Coordinator as needed
- Monitor raw material on-hand amounts along with adjusting re-order points and effectively communicate any need to the Purchasing team.
- Run complicated/difficult orders through all the processes and design Designated operator instructions if needed
- Monitor and report work performance results throughout the day and ensure goals are being met by promptly addressing and resolving issues and obstacles
- Effectively schedule and manage time and department resources to meet production deadlines and complete an appropriate amount of work
- Communicate and share performance results with all area employees on a bi-monthly basis
- Monitor and report performance in the LSR Department
- Learn some LSR troubleshooting to help keep production running smoothly
- Promote and maintain an efficient and productive work environment
- Foster an atmosphere of teamwork with a positive attitude
- Conduct regular work group meetings
- Demonstrate sense of urgency and flexibility in order to address department productivity and/or personnel issues in a timely manner
- Actively communicate, support and promote department and company goals
- Formally and informally identify and recognize high performers and promptly respond to/redirect/correct poor performers or unproductive behavior
- Recommend and execute personnel actions including promotions, evaluations, performance reviews and disciplinary measures
- Manage all employee relations issues with Human Resources and Management to ensure company policies are being followed
- Work closely with Department Manager and Inspection Trainer to maintain minimum critical skills requirements
- Verify and approve attendance and time keeping records
- Ensure real-time feedback is provided to manufacturing, sales, quality and deflashing departments
- Resolve order issues via researching box history, routings, sales history, special instructions, box messages, etc.
- Maintain effective communication and solid working relationships within own department as well as other departments
- Inform and dialog with staff via one-on-one discussions, meetings, bulletin boards, and emails
- Document issues and information appropriately
- Identify and implement production and efficiency improvements
- Collect and track performance metrics data
- Maintain inspection paperwork files and ensure proper use of Appx
- Manage and maintain the 6-S program
- Follow and enforce standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment.
- Provide and appropriately maintain inspection equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Have regular and consistent attendance (work OT/weekends when needed)
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of progressive production experience and responsibilities
- Experience supervising operations personnel within a manufacturing/industrial plant/facility, including managing production and employees, scheduling, training, delegating, meeting deadlines and project scheduling
- Experience with manufacturing inspection or quality control desired
- Able to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations
- Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and communicate with different cultures
- Has strong teamwork skills—ready and willing to work closely with team members
- Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Must be able to distinguish good and bad parts using approved methods and criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English
Physical Requirements
- Good vision (with or without corrective lenses)
- Able to work full shift completely gowned (includes hair net, beard cover, gloves, shoe covers)
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to cut preforms for a long periods of time
- Fine motor skills in hands/wrist and good hand/eye coordination
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion
